Keyword research built into your SEO workflow
Good SEO starts with the right keywords: terms people actually search for, that the site can realistically rank for and that bring the right visitors. Keyword research gives you the numbers to choose them, instead of guessing.
Search by keyword to explore a topic, or by URL to see what a page or a competitor already ranks for. Then send the best terms straight to the client’s keyword project, so research turns into tracked rankings and reports.
What you get for every search
- Monthly search volume in the country you pick
- Keyword difficulty from 0 to 100
- Cost per click, the Google Ads average
- A 12-month search trend
- Search intent, such as commercial or informational
- Related keyword ideas and the questions people ask
- Add to keyword tracking in one click

How to read keyword research metrics
Use the metrics together. A keyword with good volume, a difficulty the site can handle and the right intent is a better target than the biggest number on the list.
| Metric | What it tells you | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Search volume | Average searches a month in the chosen country | Prioritise terms with real demand, and check the 12-month trend for seasonality |
| Keyword difficulty | How hard the top results are to reach, from 0 to 100 | Start newer sites on Easy and Medium terms, and build toward Hard ones |
| Cost per click | What advertisers pay for a click in Google Ads | A high CPC usually means buyers: good targets for service and product pages |
| Search intent | What the searcher wants, for example to buy or to learn | Match commercial terms to service pages and questions to guides or FAQs |
| Position (by URL) | Where the page ranks for the keyword today | Terms just outside the top 10 are often the fastest wins |

Keyword research tool FAQs
What is a keyword research tool?
A keyword research tool shows how many people search for a term, how hard it is to rank for it and what it is worth, and suggests related keywords. Agencies use it to choose the keywords a page should target, plan new content and find the terms worth tracking for a client.
Which metrics does the keyword research show?
For each keyword: monthly search volume, keyword difficulty, cost per click (the Google Ads average), a 12-month trend and the search intent. You also get related keyword ideas and the questions people ask, each with volume, difficulty, CPC and intent.
What does keyword difficulty mean?
Keyword difficulty is a score from 0 to 100 that estimates how hard it is to reach the top results for a keyword. Under 30 is shown as Easy, 30 to 54 as Medium, 55 to 74 as Hard and 75 or more as Very hard. Pages on a newer or smaller site do best with the easier terms first.
Can I see the keywords a competitor’s page ranks for?
Yes. Choose By URL and enter a page or a domain. You see the keywords it ranks for, with the position, search volume, difficulty, CPC and intent of each one, and how many of them are in the top 10.
Which plans include keyword research?
Keyword research is included on the Scale and Enterprise plans, with a monthly number of searches that resets on your billing date. Other plans and the 14-day free trial can preview it with sample data. See the pricing page.
How do I track the keywords I find?
Select the ideas you want, click Add to keyword tracking and pick the client’s keyword project. The first positions arrive in a few minutes, and the keywords then appear in the project’s rankings and in your client reports.
