How it works

How to monitor a web page for changes in 4 steps

Page change monitoring sits inside Site crawl, on the client’s Change monitor tab.

  1. Open the Change monitor

Open Site crawl, click the client’s crawl and go to the Change monitor tab.

  2. Add a page

Click Add page and enter the page URL. It must be on the client’s own domain.

  3. Choose what to watch

Check every day, week or month, and watch the title, meta description, H1, body text and/or status code.

  4. Get the change log

The first check saves the page as it is. After that, every change is listed in Change history and emailed to you.

Features

Page change monitoring features

A simple, reliable way to see when someone edits a page that matters, whether it’s the client, a plugin update or a developer release.

Watch the elements that matter for SEO

Pick the parts of the page to watch. Changes to anything else are ignored, so you only hear about edits that matter.

Daily, weekly or monthly checks

Check a busy landing page every day and a stable About page every month. Each page has its own schedule.

Email alert when a page changes

Leave Email me when something changes on and you get an email with the subject “Page changed” and the URL at your account email. Turn it off per page.

Change log with old and new values

Change history lists each change with the date, the element that changed, and the old and new value side by side.

Up to 50 pages per website

Monitor the home page, service pages, landing pages and contact page of every client. Each page must be on the client’s own domain.

Part of the site crawl

Monitors live next to the client’s crawl. Watch a few key pages closely, and crawl the whole site every week or month for everything else.

Why it matters

Why monitor page changes for SEO?

Most ranking drops after a “small change” start with an edit nobody told the agency about: a client rewrites a title, a plugin update empties a meta description, a developer removes the H1 or a page starts returning 404 after a release.

Page change monitoring tells you within a day, week or month, depending on the schedule you pick, with the old value saved so you can restore it exactly.

Pages worth monitoring

  • The home page and the main service or product pages
  • Landing pages used in ads or campaigns
  • Pages that rank in the top 10 for the client’s best keywords
  • The contact page and pages with forms
  • Pages a client or a freelancer edits often
  • Key pages after a redesign, migration or plugin update
Client reporting

What you get for client reports

A change log is the easiest way to explain a sudden drop to a client: here is what changed on the page, here is when, and here is the old version we restored.

  • The date, the page and the element that changed
  • The old and the new value, side by side
  • An email alert for each change, so nothing waits for the monthly report
  • Status code changes, for pages that start to redirect or return 404

The change log lives in the app. Scheduled white label client reports cover the SEO audit summary, rankings, Search Console and Google Analytics 4 data. Site crawl and change reports
