Sometimes Google access for a client stops working. Then the page shows “Reconnect Search Console” (or Google Analytics, or Business Profile), and the client’s Overview tab shows a Reconnect badge.
This happens when the access was revoked in the Google account (under Google Account › Third-party connections), or when Google asks for it to be renewed.
Steps
- Open Clients, open the client’s Overview tab and click Reconnect in the Integrations panel. Or open Search Console, Google Analytics or Business Profile and pick the client.
- Sign in with the Google account that has access to the client’s data.
- Pick the property (or location) for the client again and click Connect selected property.
For Business Profile, use Change location at the top of the Business Profile page to sign in again.
If it still doesn’t work
- Sign in with a Google account that has access to the property. In Search Console, the account must be a user of the property: check Settings › Users and permissions. In Google Analytics, it needs access to the GA4 property (Admin › Property › Property access management).
- If you see “Google sign-in was cancelled”, start again (steps in Connect Google data) and allow access in the Google window.
- If you see “The connection could not be finished. Start it again.”, start the connection again from the page.
Common questions
Why do I need to reconnect?
Google access for that client was revoked or has to be renewed. Sign in with Google again to load the data.
